The summers are getting hotter due to climate change, and this is set to get much worse.
.
Camden Council has its head in the sand on this issue. Many residents are already suffering from overheating, particularly in recently built blocks without proper ‘cross ventilation’ and reliant on mechanical ventilation that breaks down, eg the new flats on the Netley School site in Regents Park Estate.
.
This is a health and social care emergency, yet Camden Council’s response is completely inadequate. At a recent committee meeting (15.09.26) we heard that Camden is monitoring temperatures in SIX flats to assess the situation. This should be done in several hundred flats.
.
In addition, a recent feasibility study to look at possible solutions has been CANCELLED.
.
Camden Council must to more identify residents at risk and take appropriate action.
